Recommendation: Lunch Lady magazine
Lunch Lady magazine is a delightful collection of articles, crafts and recipes – on subjects ranging from how to build a bean tipi or cook a cauliflower pizza base to bedtime meditations for kids.
Run by two women (with five children between them), Lunch Lady says it is “a magazine where parenting is not taken too seriously, but a balanced approach to family life is.” Colourful, thoughtful and cheeky, it reminds parents to keep things in perspective and have fun.
It’s a beautifully printed kitchen keepsake full of recipes, inspiring family stories and funny opinion pieces about the ups and downs of raising children.
As you can imagine, at LoLA we have a large collection! One of our favourite recent articles was about Anna, the founder of Abel’s Toys. When she found herself on a boat in the middle of nowhere with three kids and no toys, she improvised: with some paper and a pair of scissors she made some toys of her own! And out of that grew her business.
