In this box, we look at how a number of very different artists have worked with textiles, from printing and quilt-making, to batik and the creation of textile sculptures. We also glance at different dyeing processes, from the use of natural botanical dyes and the Japanese technique of shibori, to tie dye!

What is the Fabulous Fabric Box?
Fabric is the material of everyday life, the stuff we use to make our clothes (from ball-gowns to T-shirts) and to decorate our homes (from lampshades to full-length curtains). From time immemorial men and women have decorated their fabrics using a number of different techniques. The methods and materials they have used have expanded enormously over the years, while the uses they have made of the basic materials have remained pretty much the same.
In this box we learn about quilting, printing, batik, tie-dye, shibori, and even how to turn fabric into 3D sculptures!

This box includes a set of Gouache paints, a canvas tote bag, PVA glue, sticky foam, paintbrush and cotton fabric
