The idea of an Advent calendar to mark the countdown to Christmas began in Germany in the early 19th century and spread to the UK in the 1950s. Nowadays the calendar is most popular as a dispenser of chocolate, giving out a different treat for each day of the month.
In this box, create a family heirloom, and make a very special homemade advent calendar that you will be proud to bring out each year!
